Dharma is the day

Dharma isn’t just truth on paper. Dharma is the day. I have to look at every little thing presented to me as a gift of truth. The world is veiled by distractions like suffering and pleasure, boredom and craving, loneliness and crowds, money and poverty, love and hate, and countless more. I can find magic in every day if I see it as an opportunity to be mindful in everything I do or witness. If it hurts, I am mindful that it hurts. If it feels good, then I am mindful that it feels good. Am I aware of my current situation? How do I feel? Am I dissatisfied and clinging to something that I can not change? Buddhism teaches that emptiness is our true form. I believe emptiness is my state of being, which is between the karmic form of cause and conditions that can not be described in words. Emptiness is the fact that everything changes. I sometimes question if it is even possible to see the true nature of life. How can an illusion see that it is an illusion in a world of illusion? The day teaches me to see past myself and look closely at how things really are. Upekkha, or equanimity, is the target of my practice so I may see the Dharma in the day. Every time I meditate, it is my invitation to the universe to see with equanimity. With equanimity, I will not see the glass of water as half empty or half full but a glass of both.
