For those in pain all too frequently, I pray for you. May you find peace. Where does karma play a part in a life of pain when you did nothing wrong to deserve it? Karma is an infinitely large net that is cast over our lives. Imagine a comic book spread out on a wall. It is too dark to see the whole comic, so you shine a flashlight on one square. When you look at one square, only one square can be seen at a time. If you try to look ahead, then you can get confused about the plot. If you look behind, then the plot grows stagnant. I believe that the Buddha turned on the lights to read the whole comic at once. The Buddha and other enlightened beings have sent us all an invitation to join them and see the bigger picture, the ultimate plot. In our common state of mind, we could not comprehend why bad things happen to good people. Our karmic tree branches outside our line of sight. The keys to the kingdom is transcending the pain, if only psychologically. A true warrior uses his pain to provide purpose and propel the mind past the pain. Pain weakens us, but it can open doorways of the mind to new facets of hidden strength. Your misery is not your badge.
